Safer.app uses cookies to improve your experience on our website. Cookies are small data files stored by your browser that help us understand how visitors use our site. Information collected via cookies may include your IP address, pages visited, and browser type. This data is used only to improve site functionality and is not linked to personal information held in the platform.
You can disable cookies at any time via your browser's security settings. Disabling cookies will not affect your ability to use the Safer.app platform.
5. Data Storage & Security
All personal information is stored within Australia on AWS infrastructure (Sydney region). Data is encrypted at rest using AES-256 and in transit using TLS 1.2 or higher. Access is restricted based on role and business need, governed by role-based access controls and mandatory multi-factor authentication for all team members with access to production systems.
For full details on our security controls, infrastructure, and subprocessors, refer to our Security page.
6. Data Retention
Personal information is retained only for as long as required to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected, or as required by law. Customer data is deleted within 60 days of contract termination. Personally identifiable information (PII) is deleted or de-identified as soon as it no longer has a legitimate business purpose.
Note: personal information related to workplace injuries may need to be retained for extended periods to meet legal or regulatory obligations. Where this applies, we will retain only the minimum information required.
7. Your Privacy Rights
In accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:
• Access the personal information Safer.app holds about you
• Request correction of inaccurate or outdated information
• Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal retention obligations)
• Make a complaint about how your information has been handled
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@safer.app. We will acknowledge your request within 2 business days and respond within 30 days.
8. Data Deletion Requests
How to submit a request
You can request deletion of your personal information by emailing privacy@safer.app with the subject line "Data Deletion Request", or by submitting a request through our support channel. Please include sufficient information to verify your identity and identify the relevant account or data.
How we handle your request
All deletion requests are logged in a secure, access-controlled register. We record the date of request, your identity or account reference, the systems or data types affected, the date of completion, and confirmation of deletion. We validate that data has been removed from all relevant systems — including production environments, backups, and applicable third-party services — and send you a confirmation on completion.
Exceptions
Deletion may be declined or deferred where retention is required by law, by a regulatory body, or to resolve an active legal matter. You will be notified of any such exception and the reason.
9. Notifiable Data Breaches
In the event of a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm to any affected individual, Safer.app will notify the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) and affected individuals in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches Scheme — within 72 hours of a confirmed breach determination.
10. Third-Party Disclosure
Personal information may be shared with third-party service providers who assist in delivering our platform. All third parties are required to handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles and are assessed as part of our vendor management process. Safer.app does not disclose personal information to overseas recipients except where required by law or where the recipient is subject to equivalent privacy protections.
11. Privacy Complaints
If you believe your privacy rights have been breached, contact us at privacy@safer.app. We will investigate and respond within 30 days. If the complaint is not resolved to your satisfaction, you may escalate to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
